Until he was recently slightly inconvienenced by a few felony convictions that got him automatically booted, the state House speaker was the former owner of the AU radio network (although in the weird incestuous tradition between the schools he went to UGa). Now it's probable the Senate majority leader, who's an even bigger crook but thus far unindicted.

EDIT: Speaker was the same Hubbard DQ referenced above.

I covered Auburn when Hubbard was there, so that's why I thought of him as an Auburn grad. Wow, can't believe all I'm reading about him. I would never have imagined him having the stones to try even half that shit. Never struck me as anything more than your garden-variety athletic department ass-licker.

Yeah it's a real bitch when you campaign for a GOP takeover promising sweeping ethics reforms, strut your stuff in a special session to push the laws through, write a self-congratulatory book about the whole thing and then wind up facing a prison bid after being convicted on a dozen counts of violating the laws you championed.

Even from you, that's a ridiculous comparison.

Current Alabama Lt. Governor Kay Ivey is an Auburn grad.

One thing to remember is that Auburn doesn't have a law school. So even if politicians went to undergrad at Auburn, almost all of them have law degrees from Alabama.

    It's your own logic.

    You said:

So, let's apply it to guns.

"No one who condones guns is harmless."

After all, what is the purpose of guns? To kill, right? Isn't that what anti-abortionists say is what happens in an abortion?

Baron, it never goes well when you try to talk about logic.

Yeah, Mike Hubbard was a no brainer till he got hisself convicted. What was funny was that when he was indicted under anti-corruption laws that he wrote and rode to taking over the statehouse on a platform of breaking up the Democratic corruption, he claimed they were unconstitutional. Seriously.

I really don't know of any of great influence. There are some in the statehouse. Spencer Bachus was in the House of Representatives for twenty years but he's retired. Bobby Lowder was pretty influential, but he was a money man and big booster, not an actual politician. Kay Ivey, the Lt. Gov. is so bad that we almost don't want to see Bentley impeached because she'll be someone's puppet immediately.

It's been a while since we've had a quality Baron analogy session.
