I went to see La La Land, but it turned out to be Moonlight instead.

Watched Groundhog Day. Never usually need a reason because it's fantastic. But we have tickets to see the musical version on Broadway. Can't wait.

I watched "Swiss Army Man" last night. Buck, I'm glad you liked it.

The acting was astoundingly good. Paul Dano was great and Daniel Radcliffe took a thankless role and made it extremely engaging. Unfortunately, it was a twee, magical reality thingamabob of a movie with a Polyphonic Spree-esque tra-la-la soundtrack and a Kinfolk meets Gilligan's Island aesthetic. As movies go, it made me want to beat a cornhusk doll with a hockey stick and then go order something unhealthy at Sonic.

    I need brain floss.

Captain Fantastic. Really liked it. Mortenson is really good as are the kids.

Also watched I don't feel at home in this world any more. Melanie Lynskey and Elijah Wood. Watched it because I've always liked Lynskey. Quirky, reasonably enjoyable movie, thought it could've been better.

Saw Logan this afternoon. There is a teaser before the start of the movie, which is fun. It is also available online if you care to look it up.

The movie itself was a lot of what I expected. It is extremely violent and easily the darkest story of all of the X-Men and Wolverine movies to date. Jackman and Stewart are excellent, as is Dafne Keen, the young actress who plays Laura/X-23.

I thought it was well done, easily the best of the three Wolverine movies.

I recorded some cop/legal movies recently, just for the hell of it. So the recent watch list includes The Rainmaker, Cop Land, and Presumed Innocent. Michael Clayton ended up in there, too. I have seen that one a zillion times, but it is still entertaining this time around.

I also saw Logan last night and thought it was amazing. This is the Wolverine we all wanted since X-1. Wasn't too keen on a character in the second act, but grew one me as I left and thought more about it. Wasn't as post-apocalyptic as I would have liked to see or some of the backstory when comparing to Old Man Logan. But that's just nitpicking. This movie damn good and rightfully deserving of all of the praise it's receiving. It's right up there with X-2 for me.

Just saw The Three Musketeers with Mila Jovovich. It's a bad movie, but it also created a lot of intentional belly laughs. I would not be surprised if this was a cult classic in 2020.

They could not have done Old Man Logan, but did preserve some key points from that story. I like that they kept it small. They gave enough information to understand what happened to the X-Men and other mutants without dwelling on all that.

X-2 was more fun, but I think you could argue that Logan is a higher quality film.
