Good news, the Republican welfare healthcare plan will cost less than $30 per month! After all, that's the cost of a new iPhone with a two-year contract and Chaffetz says people shouldn't buy a new phone so they can afford healthcare.

Christ. An iPhone costs $600. That will buy you, what, 10 minutes in a hospital waiting room?

 

Mobile phones are proving to be one of the more effective ways of controlling healthcare costs. They're a big part of communicating with patients who are otherwise hard to reach -- who are also the ones that spike costs so much -- and are very effective with medication management (alerts that it's time to take pills, etc.). Some even have sensors for heart rate and blood pressure monitoring.

I don't expect Chaffetz to have any compassion or semblance of a heart, but he should at least know that if people go without those phones, the government loses in the long run.

 

Should make for a fun Freedom Caucus meeting tonight.
