This exchange about volleyball and Kitten just reminded me of the "no longer riding solo" thread.

I just looked Hereford up. The women's teams are known as the Lady Whitefaces? Wow. I wonder about the local history of that, and why I haven't heard about it in the Redskins debates.

Hereford is a breed of cattle with red bodies and white faces.

Just north of Baltimore. Their cross-country course has a 45-degree downhill section with a big mat on a tree at the bottom for the runners to crash into.

You all can keep West Texas. The farthest west I ever want to go is to Mary's in Strawn.

This town is also very well known (and you can smell it) for their production of cattle. There's a LOT of feedlots in town.

My grandpa raised Hereford and Black Angus cows. The Herefords you could go up to and scratch their ears. Black Anguses are meaner, even the heifers.

My family has Charolais, which make the cutest snow white baby calves. Then again the red Limousin crossed with Charolais look like they are coated in cinnamon sugar.

Not the best but for microwavable Mexican, this is pretty damn solid.

    The sauce is really flavorful.

Did a big feature story once on the Gordon-Strawn game -- the "Super Bowl of Six-Man" -- and of course, made a stop at Mary's for pre-game dinner. Got a good interview with Mary Tretter, whose son played for Strawn in that year's game (I seem to recall he scored the winning touchdown). Great meal and a great evening.
