Last night I dreamed that ...

I don't have the looking for a restroom dream, but I do find that when I'm dreaming of something involving running water, I wake up having to race to the restroom.

I've had that dream about both school and work, and both of the variations discussed -- not being prepared and racing (and failing) to get there in time.

I used to have the dream that I had a final in a class that I hadn't attended all semester. It's been a long time since I had that one. Hell, it's been a long time since I got out of college.

    Shit, I'm old.

After I'm well out of the business, I still have that recurring dream of being on the desk and being past deadline with no end in sight. It lasts unbearingly long, although I realize when I wake up it probably happened in minutes.

When I covered UCLA football, the night before the games I had dreams in which I managed to be confronted by the one parking lot attendant who didn't know that I had the correct parking pass ... and I wound up in Altadena.

Still have variations of that dream occasionally, even though it's been almost 36 years since I last attended a college class. Sometimes the dream involves missing a final exam during the final semester of senior year and not being allowed to graduate. It's even based in fact a bit because I did oversleep once for a final exam in an 8 a.m. class (fortunately, the professor took pity on me and allowed a do-over).

As an aside, my wife recently was prescribed cannabis oil (taken orally) for a medical condition. Not only has it provided pain relief, but she says her dreams have been off the charts.

Dreamed I was stuck in a packed Starbucks with my ex while she wanted to go over the end of our marriage in blow by blow detail with all the customers adding commentary. Then she had me somehow floating above the town center-type development that Starbucks was in (I struggle with heights sometimes) and I began hyperventilating, to the point nurses wanted to strap me to a gurney and draw blood (I struggle with needles always). Woke up hyperventilating IRL.

... that I was in a building with familiar faces during a botched cash heist. Guns involved. I didn't get shot; usually I do get shot in dreams when guns make an appearance.

I had a pretty elaborate one where Nick Saban walked into his post game press conference and started tossing autographed baseballs to members of the media. He then sat down next to the podium and started talking about anything and everything other than the game. He then collapsed and had to be rushed to the hospital.

Myself and fellow sport writers then went to the hospital and tried to interview assembled players, with little success.

And as a takeoff of the aforementioned dream, I began to realize a couple of hours had passed and I hadn't written/filed a word.
