And if you saw the 30 for 30 on BC point shaving it was a throwaway line by Henry Hill that brought the whole scandal notoriety.

And the reason BC sucks at life currently starts and ends with Gene Defilippo.

You now things are going badly at BC when Jim Christian is probably looking longingly at the Cleveland State position.

Now that Georgetown's season is done, can they finally please shitcan JTIII? Jeff Goodman had a damning piece last week that quoted five former players who basically said that Thompson needs to go, but they won't dump him because of Big John. Three straight seasons missing the tourney, getting out-recruited in the hot beds of DC and Baltimore. It's become embarrassing.

On the C-USA message board (yes, such a thing exists) they are speculating whether Middle Tennessee can hang onto Kermit Davis if LSU and Missouri open up the checkbook. That would be an excellent way for either school to guarantee its standing reservation in the Wednesday night play-in games for the next five years.

For all the talk about Crean being a targe for Missouri if Indiana dumps him, that possibility fills me with no confidence whatsoever. To my mind, Crean basically has ridden Wade's coattails since that Final Four run at Marquette (and Mizzou should have beaten them that year; Rickey Paulding was every bit as good as Wade in that NCAA game, the only NCAA game I've ever gone to). Sure, he'd be better than the four coaches since Norm got put out to pasture, but that's not saying much.

I'd rather see Cuonzo Martin every day of the week and twice on Sunday than Crean.

As for other speculation via the Post-Dispatch: Scott Drew, pass. Andy Enfield, meh. Travis Ford, you're shitting me, right? Chris Holtman, intriguing. Lorenzo Romar, fuck no. Rick Stansbury, he had his chance at Missy State. Brad Underwood, I got nothing. Buzz Williams, bald.

If Fred Hoiberg were available, it would be a pick-em between him and Martin.

Wish lists are easy when it's not my money and reputation on the line.

Wade left Marquette in 2003. After that, Crean's teams won between 19 and 25 games five years in a row, including 24 and 25 their first two years in the Big East. Then he went to Indiana and won two Big Ten championships.

Yeah. The resume is completely bare without Wade.

LTL, I stand corrected. That said, I'd still rather have Hoiberg (no chance) or Martin.

Whoever it is, I hope he gets at least four years to get Mizzou out of the hole it's in -- and that's only going to happen by recruiting better players. The Tiggers just don't have much talent on the roster right now; they're role players all. Hard to win like that.

I (blissfully) haven't watched much, but are most of them honestly even role players?

My pipe dream remains Shaka Smart. But at least I know it's a pipe dream.

We're talking three or four dudes who cold be seventh and eighth guys at best on a good team, but most are the guys you send in to foul the shit out of somebody on the opposing team, basketball's version of hockey goons.

I think the bloom is off Shaka a bit since he went to Texas, where he's three or four games below .500 in two seasons. He's in a tougher league and probably has less talent on that Longhorns team than he had at VCU.

Bob Williams couldn't have made less of a blip in 20 years at UCSB if he tried.

Give me a few drinks and ask me who the UCSB coach is, and I'd probably say Jerry Pimm.

If he's smart, he'll see what else is out there first. Don't get me wrong; he should take it if they push for an answer and nobody else jumps. But the AD situation is cause for pause.
