It's probably where they belong. Iowa was in the middle of the league in a very down year for the Big 10. Other than Jok, and a recent surge from Bohannon, not much offensive punch for the Hawkeyes.

Hard to imagine many of the Big 10 teams playing on the second weekend of the tourney. Probably one, two at the most.

Hartford. They had the same problem or worse in Orlando last year. That conference may as well hire a studio audience and play its tournament on a sound stage.

Yeah, if it's not UConn, nobody in Hartford is going to pay to see it. Not many SMU or E. Carolina alums in area, either.

NFL referee Bill Vinovich was refereeing the Cal State Fullerton - Cal State Northridge game yesterday.

Places declared an Anthrax site had more people there.

Michigan-Purdue doesn't exactly have a Beatles at Shea crowd atmosphere, but it's a little better, and in truth, it's a decent (not great) matchup for a neutral fan.

Isn't that par for the course in the Big West?

Just FYI, it's not the All-American Conference.

I went to the C-USA late session yesterday. First game, with hometown UAB's season finally put out of its misery, might have drawn 3-4K fans to a 17k arena. For the nightcap (Marshall upset Old Dominion in a pretty good game), there might have been a thousand souls in the building if you include bands, concession workers, ushers, janitors and everybody. I don't see how that conference stays in business.

Sure it is. Its headquarters is in the Alabama capital of Birmingham.
