I wish our "golf" thread had live fighting videos. We could place all kinds of bets. Better than watching chicken fights...

Not that either of these guys are going to engender much sympathy, but the weird part was that Busch didn't do anything wrong. He avoided crashing into Keselowski, didn't make contact with Logano, and seemed to have some room to make the move. Unless something happened earlier in the race that they didn't mention, what the hell was Logano's issue?

The current state of America's major auto racing series:

IndyCar: Winner goes from last to first, no one notices.

NASCAR: Winner dominates, no one notices ... because one driver gets ass beaten trying to fight another driver after race.

(And Joey Logano has been nothing but accessible and polite to me every time I've had the opportunity to interview him. Kyle Busch? Um .... I'll reserve comment on the brothers Busch.)

How dare you have such little respect for Sebastian Bourdais.

Actually, the ABC broadcast didn't suck too badly, although Eddie and Scott still miss the most obvious things. I liked that they somewhat kept up on the various pit strategies. However, the idea that St. Pete is SeaBass' "hometown" was stretching it a lot. And ABC MUST show the iconic "wife in the pits" camera shot on the final lap.

"Didn't suck too badly" is unfortunately high praise for ABC's IndyCar coverage. The league really needs to move away from ABC, regardless of the fact that the network has carried the 500 for a half-century. Get all the races on NBCSN and beg for the 500 to get on NBC.

St. Pete is legit as SeaBass' hometown. Martin Fennelly of the TB Times had a nice piece after the race playing that up, noting that when asked what Publix he went to, SeaBass answered "the one on 38th."

Jeff is one of the good guys in sports writing, especially auto racing, which has been his passion for as long as I have known him. Hell, he's one of the good guys no matter what he's doing.

In a long-ago job, we worked together. The Stratosphere must be sad he isn't around as much these days.

I agree. Eddie and Goodyear have long since peaked, and neither was too good to begin with. Especially underaCheever. He also seemed so stiff and wooden to me. Then again, I was spoiled watching NASCAR races back in the day with Benny Parsons, Ned Jarrett and Neil Bonnett doing color. ABC can make any race terribly dull and formulaic. I just about fell asleep on Sunday, though granted it wasn't the best race ever at St. Pete.

What's telling is that the conversation on the 2017 NASCAR thread ain't about NASCAR. That's not a complaint, either. The Bills must be spinning in their graves.
