OK. So, some local chapters get a small percentage of their budget through this program. Some get no money.

These are worthy charitable organizations, that with additional fundraising, and the support of their local communities -- and maybe even their local government -- will continue to serve their mission.

Just because a charity does good work, and serves people in need, doesn't mean it is the federal government's job to provide funding.

Meals on Wheels isn't a government program.

I'm sure a wealthy community like San Jose can come up with $100,000.

Sometimes it would be nice if new administrations realized that in foreign policy, if the US has been unable to solve or even mitigate a problem for 20 years, it's because that problem has no solution the US can provide.

As satisfying as the outrage is (and any cut to Meals on Wheels is an outrageous act against people who define "our most vulnerable citizens"), much of Trump's budget is going to need to get 60 votes. That includes his $54B increase in military spending, because that has to beat the Sequestration, which will also take 60 votes.

My guess is that Trump will not deal with that well.

Are these plucked from thin air, or have you determined these localities Meals on Wheels program receives funding through the Community Development Block Grant program?

    Not at all.

Look at the page for Rockland County that Inky linked to:

Meals on Wheels Programs & Services of Rockland is pleased to announce that the agency is a 2016-2017 recipient of a Community Development Block Grant of $25,000 for the Homebound Meal Delivery Program. Thank you to the County of Rockland's Office of Community Development, the administering agency.

It doesn't look like this is permanent, ongoing funding for this organization. It was a one time thing.

These are federal funds that local government agencies apply for, and distribute.

If the Rockland County Government supports this program, and wants it funded, then they should fund it.

You are absolutely backpedaling from your initial post. The news reports are misleading, but so was your response.

Yeah, going from LOL FAKE NUTHINGBERGER to,"Um, ok, maybe some get some money but it's not a lot and it doesn't matter or make a difference," is archetypical steadfastness.

We know you pride yourself on never wavering, even in the face of empirical reality. Please don't worry us and start now.

Neither the Huffington Post article, nor the New York Times article it was based off of, provide any evidence that a single poor, homebound senior, or disabled person will be cut from any Meals on Wheels program.

It's pure speculation, and fear tactics.

They don't even quote anyone from Meals on Wheels saying it will force them to cut services.

This is all the Times wrote about Meals on Wheels:

In addition to the cuts at the E.P.A. and the State Department, Mr. Trump’s team is expected to propose a wide array of cuts to public education, to transportation programs like Amtrak and to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, including the complete elimination of the $3 billion Community Development Block Grant program, which funds popular programs like Meals on Wheels, housing assistance and other community assistance efforts.

But, SJW on twitter see this as an opening, and are fear mongering on the subject.
