Mulvaney said on TV that kids shouldn't get free school lunches unless it can be shown it helps learning. Great, pass this standardized test or starve. Hard to see how this chap improves humanity as a species. Maybe he shouldn't get dinner.

Disagree. Right now, the Republican agenda is anything that will enrage liberals. As has been noted 50,000 times on Twitter, the NEA or CBP could be fully funded indefinitely on the money spent on a single jaunt to Mar-A-Lago or by Melania staying at the White House for a week. This is an occasion for the GOP to exact punishment and nothing more.

It's not really even Republican, it's just anti-Democrat.

Give a ham sandwich to a senior citizen, you feed them for a day.

Take that sandwich away, you don't have to make them Social Security any longer.

Good gosh ... we can't prove feeding kids is a good thing, really!?!

That is poor politics. You piss people off without giving other people tangible benefits in exchange.

Someone, somewhere, is getting away with something they don't deserve.

Also agreed, but it gets their base and their donor class off and that's all that matters. It also keeps more people happy than they would if this batch of amateurs were actually attempting to govern.

Does 11% not qualify as a small percentage of funding?

No one is arguing that Meals on Wheels does not have a noble mission.

The question is whether a local charity should be funded by the federal government.

There are a few things the federal government can do, has to do, and that can't be done by anyone else. This includes providing for our national defense and protecting our borders.

Trump's budget is a reflection of what the federal government's responsibility to its citizenry. It's not a moral referendum on individual programs.

It's exactly what passes for governance nowadays, though. It's like Middle East politics. They're too busy trying to screw the other party they can't enact meaningful legislation, or sit down with the folks on the other side of the aisle to hammer out a compromise. Wasn't always this way, folks ...

Take 11 percent of your family's combined yearly income and burn it. After all, it's a small percentage of your funding.

YF, just stop it. You're turning into a monster and you don't seem to recognize it.

What about protecting its citizens from diseases that kill hundreds of thousands of times more people than funny looking foreigners do?
