As the kids say, that's some serious shade being thrown at Trump (and check out that vacant look on his face).

Huh? Are you saying that $35M of federal funds is spent annually to stage the Academy Awards? The Oscars are put on by the MPAA, and the MPAA is funded primarily by its TV contract to air the show. I don't believe it gets a cent of federal funds, or tax dollars of any kind. (Though it's a 501(c), so it does get tax benefits as a non-profit.)

So I have no idea what your point is. The Oscars are not a line item in the federal budget (and neither are the Emmys, or CMA Awards, etc.), so those imaginary funds can't be shifted to pay for the NEA or anything else proposed for the chopping block. Unless your point is making a drive-by insult on "Hollywood liberals."

Our local Meals on Wheels is funded thru the Older Americans Act which Trump will probably want to slash because Obama extended it last year.

Perhaps President Trump is more of a globalist than I thought:

He quoted a "proverb" from a Nigerian poet when greeting the Irish prime minister.

From: Remarks by President Trump and Taoiseach Enda Kenny of Ireland at Friends of Ireland Luncheon

Some folks didn't understand his subtle nod to multiculturalism:

Was Donald Trump's 'Irish proverb' actually a verse from a Nigerian poet?
