Or, if people are going to be forced to make health decisions like buying insurance, shouldn't they also be forced not to stop the beating hearts of unborn children. If the government needs to make people buy insurance it should at least make sure that no life is being taken due to the irresponsibility of the average American. Individuals can't be trusted with ANY important choices these days.

As I've said many times here, being pro-life (as I am) and being pro-universal health care (as I am) are entirely consistent viewpoints.

 

How many of these people would have bought a simple, low cost, catastrophic plan if they had been available, and paid for routine health care costs out of pocket, had such plans been available?

Instead, the only choice available -- and it wasn't really a choice -- was to purchase a one-size-fits-all, government mandated plan that included expensive coverage that young, healthy people don't need.

 

yes. And let's do away with any laws requiring kids to go to school till their 16. Let's breed a new generation of dumbfucks who die the first time they encounter a medical emergency.

Yeah, I don't get it. Giving everyone healthcare is a bad thing? So many Republicans I know are duped by the idea of what they think being a Republican stands for. Even if they're poor, they don't wanna associate with the party that is labeled as the handout party or the party of minorities bc one day they're gonna be rich or hope to be. They're Republicans out of some deluded notion of self-esteem and pride.
