Why does LaVar Ball make you so mad?

LaVar Ball is entertaining as hell. Yeah, he's got an over-inflated estimation of his kids' talents (but make no mistake -- Lonzo is a great basketball player, and may not end up being the best of the three). He's a hilarious quote. He's like AAU dad meets Don King. Why does that piss you off so much? I mean, people are acting like he will damage his sons' careers. Like the Suns or Lakers will have the opportunity to draft Lonzo and they'll stop and think "I don't know.... his dad's t-shirts are kind of overpriced."[/QUOTE]

Who is mad? Does it mean someone is mad if they call out a person on their bs? Should we say LaVar Ball was great, like so many other guys in NFL Europe who didn't get a chance?

You are responding to imaginary posts. Nobody's mad.

What, other than baseless guessin, is the bolded claim based on? The second Ball is a decidedly mediocre prospect, there's no rational basis for any sane person to believe he'll be better than Lonzo. And the third Ball is merely 15, I learned long ago that projecting what kind of player a 15-year-old will become is quite the fool's errand.

I am more wondering what the hell is wrong with PC that he is enamored with mr. Ball.

I'm not enamored with him. I find him amusing. He's funny. He's enjoying himself. He's a jackass, of course, but he's an entertaining jackass.

He's also sticking a finger in the eye of the NCAA, which should earn him a medal.

I just find all the vitriol strange. So he won't shut up. So what? He's entertaining and he's not hurting anything, as much as people keep trying to pretend otherwise. God forbid someone in sports should be a good quote.

I'm sure he's an irritant for some at Chino Hills, but let's be honest: no one here really gives a fuck about Chino Hills, and 99% of the people here hadn't heard of it before this thread. And Chino Hills had a 60 game winning streak, so they're probably cool with it too.

This thread has people wishing catastrophic injuries on high school kids because daddy likes to talk. It has people explaining why a 15 year old scoring 92 points in a high school game is really unimpressive. It's bizarro land.

    He took SIXTY-ONE shots.

There are literally 500 players in high school right now who could score 92 points if their teammates fouled to get them the ball while 30 points ahead and passed up open layups to give them 61 shots.

That's just a terrible way to play the sport.

Before the basketball team because great, Chino Hills was known as the town that smelled like cow shit when you drove by on the freeway.

You aren't wrong PC, it's just that every single one of us here has a different standard for entertaining than you.

OK. He took 61 shots. He made 37 of them. He scored 92 points and he's 15 years old. I'll be honest, a kid scores 92 points as a sophomore, I don't care much about arguments over the quality of the 92 points.

I'm not sure my high school's team broke the 70 point barrier in the four years I was in school.

Quite possibly, yeah. But, I mean... he claimed he could have taken Jordan one-on-one, despite being a guy who averaged two points off the bench for Washington State. In what world is that not funny?

    I didn't mind that one.

The stuff telling coaches what they better do with his kids is the bridge too far. Really now -- making fun of Alford for showing emotion at the end of his son's four-year college career?
