I've already seen FB friends claiming victory, saying "See! He was wiretapped!" while completely ignoring that whatever Nunes is talking about was collected from what he says are legal taps on another source.

I never understood what harm it would have done to give Garland a hearing and a vote. How could just giving him that, regardless of the outcome, have been a victory for Obama? It's not as if had they voted him down, Obama could have said "At least they gave him a vote."

Too many Republican Senators, including Orrin Hatch, had cited Garland as the kind of judge a Democratic President should appoint to the court when criticizing his other nominees. Couldn't let those words be thrown back in the faces on the Senate floor.

Because he was qualified and they thought a no vote would make them look bad. Of course, what they did was even worse, but the public refused to make the party pay for it in the election.

Obama should have put him on the court and made the Republicans fight it. By refusing to hold the confirmation hearing at all, they were derelict in their duty. Of course, the decision to let the Republicans get away with it looks even worse with the benefit of hindsight.

They thought Clinton would win. It was a monumental fuckup. Plain and simple.

Personally I think they should have to hold votes on everything. No blocking votes, no refusing to have votes.
It's not as if there's not enough time to do that.

Shaving off just 3 percent of Trump's voters would have flipped Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin even if none of those people voted for Clinton instead. And don't forget, this is his honeymoon. It only gets harder from here.
