The master of the Art of the Deal can't even close the deal with his own party.

 

So allegedly Ryan told Trump he doesn't have the votes to pass the bill and Trump told him he wanted the vote held anyway. Jim Jones at Jonestown action there. Ryan is absolutely enough of a coward to do this despite the disaster it'd be for all concerned in the GOP, but he's the Speaker. He has more power in the House than Trump. He could, for instance, replace Devin Nunes as head of the Intelligence Committee. That'd get Trump's attention real fast.

 

If Trump did that and Ryan complies, he shouldn't be the Speaker.

 

I have a suspicion he won't be Speaker much longer no matter what he does.
