The problem with Pence's statement is simple: A lot of business gets done in one-on-one meetings with leaders. Because it's not actually 1953 anymore, some of those leaders are women. If he refuses to meet with those leaders one-on-one, it puts those leaders at a disadvantage when they need something from him (or vice versa).
