A texting while driving law with some real teeth might have prevented the entire accident.

Really, guys. We're going to argue whether it's a good idea to enact new safety regulations in the face of this new technology? Here's something to think about: The two-year increase in traffic fatalities is the greatest in more than a half-century.

Why would you fight that idea? Honestly, if someone is holding up their phone to see the GPS while driving, that's not the safest driving practice either.

You ever see cops on their phones when they drive?

Not exactly a defense. If they are, they shouldn't.

Cops can be inconsiderate pricks who deserve tickets, too.

And don't go into the false equivalence thing with CBs.

So if nothing can be in your hand, drinking a water or coffee or eating anything while driving should be a ticket also.

Which is why all the GPS apps have verbal cues telling you where to turn.

I think in some places, cops have the discretion to issue tickets for those things, too.

I didn't say "nothing can be in your hand."

A "phone" should not be in your hand while in motion. If it is, you're an inconsiderate prick who deserves a ticket.

My wife picked it up to hear the GPS. She said GFY for calling her an inconsiderate prick.
