My guess is sheer coincidence.

 

As a total derail, I wonder if Ahnold will ever be able to get the sequel made. Last I heard Josh Gad had written a screenplay for "Triplets", where years later, after the twin's mother dies they get back together for the reading of the will and she bequeaths to both of them and to their other brother... who turns out to be Eddie Murphy. In vitro experiment, yadda yadda.

If the script is right, maybe the gag flies a second time. Murphy has said that he's never going to do a movie just for a check again. We'll see.
