There's also the matter that the Senate rules were changed in the first place because the republican party of no wasn't doing it's job and blocking nominees.

The rule change was specific to not include SCOTUS because it's a big fucking deal.

Maybe they can reach an agreement. Trump gets impeached and Gorsuch steps down.
