One of the things I miss about Iowa most is the cheese curds at Culver's. The burgers weren't bad, but the cheese curds were the bomb.

Ate at an In-n-Out in San Diego once, not that impressed. Not terrible, but IMO didn't live up to the hype. Plus I got a cool-looking t-shirt. It lasted one wash before it looked like a child's shirt.

The thing about In-N-Out fries is they're made from real honest-to-God potatoes on the spot. You can see them peeling, cutting and rinsing them sometimes.

Not everyone's cup of tea (even mine), but only God and Ronald McDonald know what chemicals lurk in McD's bagged frozen tallow-coated fries. Getting the In-N-Out animal fries does help the flavor.

Had the occasion to stop in a Willy Burger today, and it was very good. I had the #47 (cheeseburger with mustard and grilled onions) and fries. Well done to my liking, like a thicker Freddy's patty, and the fries were excellent.

    Thanks for the rec, Flip!

We have a Five Guys near us, made one trek there with Huggy Jr, quality burger...best advice I got: you only need one order of fries.

Last time we were in New York we followed a recommendation and went to Five Napkin Burger, it was alright but at those prices you expect something great.

I thought that was the best part about Five Guys.
Burgers were ok. Fries were very very good.

The fries were great and you get loads of them!

Nathan's fries are my fast-food favorites.

If you are ever in Daytona, the Brickyard Grille makes a burger too damn good for this town.

Others: Finkcastles in Greensboro, N.C and the Bacon Ranch burger at JCWs at Thanksgiving Point in Utah.

And yes, In-And-Out and Cookout, primarily because these days its the fact we're on a road trip and get to go back....
