I don't like Van Gundy. Chip on his shoulder.

ESPN is so...boring. It starts with coast to coast. Followed by shows that repeat the same 5 topics ALL DAY LONG. Romo garbage, LeBron and Cavs, Westbrook - MVP chatter since mid-season, token 5 minutes of MLB, NHL, something about Warriors...Not sure why ESPN needs 25 different people talking about these subjects.

I rarely watch ESPN for the very reasons you stated. Good post.

I just don't like ESPN's style. SportsCenter frankly I can't take the way the hosts talk leading into the highlights. Just can't take all the bad puns and bad lines. Maybe it's just me. I realize it's hard to be a SC host. I just don't like listening to that crap. Can't do it in fact so no soup (highlights) for me.

I don't mind SVP late at night. The others are just awful.

Yeah I don't mind SVP because he actually talks to people that touch on different subjects not the same crap regurgitated for 12 hours. I really don't get talking about Romo and the situation with Jerry Jones on what's really is going on....WGAF. Certainly not worth constant daily coverage. I like SVP and don't mind The Jump because at least you get away from some of the crap as it specifically is NBA, but man some of those shows are literally too hard to watch. Cringe worthy.

On a side note, is anyone else sickened by the constant Cubs 'fans' that are also TV personalities. Like Wilbon being pulled out of the stands and talking after WS. Wouldn't you think he'd just say "I want to enjoy this. I am not going on TV."

IIRC, he didn't want to do it because he was there as a fan, to the point of wearing a Cubs jersey, even. How he got talked into it, I don't know, but I'll give him a mulligan there because, well, it's Wilbon, not some fanboi. But it's getting like your local station that includes a segment about the Super Bowl in every broadcast during game week, no matter who's playing, just because , by the strangest coincidence, the game's on our station! Because that's what SportsCenter has evolved into: A promotion for all things ESPN.

Cuts appear to be beginning at ESPN. A shame to see Paul Kuharsky, an outstanding reporter on the Titans beat, get the ax.

Does that mean ESPN is ending beat writers for each NFL team or just going cheaper?

I have read on different threads that NFL beat reporters make more than one hundred thousand dollars a year but do not receive health insurance. Let's assume that the average NFL beat reporter costs one fifty thousand dollars. There are 32 teams so total cost is a probably just south of five million dollars. Given that ESPN pays 1.9 billion dollars for the rights to NFL games and has an omnivorous pipeline that needs content five million a year does not seem to be that high a price to cover every team.
