That would be pretty cool. Much more interesting than what it'll turn out to be.

'Rogue One' left such little imprint on me that I completely forgot I'd seen it.
We got it Saturday night to watch. Looking forward to it. Movie starts, and about three minutes into it I turn and say 'I've seen this.'
I had completely forgotten that I'd seen it. It had left no impression on me whatsoever.

The old lady Jedi librarian in Attack of the Clones had an English accent. Maybe she's Rey's great-granny?

Maybe Rey's accent is fake like Leia's was.

Really, if Rey turns out to be the daughter (or descendant) of anybody (significant) but Luke, it'll be a contrived M. Night Shamlamadingdong-ish twist.

(Although I thought for quite some time they would cook up some connection with Jyn Ursa in "Rogue One," but the way that ended pretty much kiboshed that.)

Although not dissimilar to J.J. Abrams dropping Spock Prime into ST09 as a last-minute "surprise," as well as floating the fake narrative that Benedict Cumberbatch was somebody other than KHAAAN.

The Non-Luke option for Rey's parentage that actually does make sense is that she is the daughter of nobody, or at least nobody we've ever heard of before or would have any reason to care about.

THAT would actually reinforce the idea of The Force being this universal, all-encompassing, all-inclusive essence influencing all life in the galaxy.

The idea that Rey has to be the descendant of somebody we "know" -- some significant character from an earlier chapter -- flies in the face of that idea. Instead it implies The Force is handed down like the divine right of kings, or inherited biologically (midichlorians, aiieeeee!!).

It would be more egalitarian if Rey is actually the daughter of "nobody."

Maybe, but that would make no sense at all after what we saw in The Force Awakens. She clearly has some connection to a known character. Maz Kanata made that clear. The question is if they would use a character from the expanded universe, such as Kanan or Ezra from Star Wars: Rebels.

I still prefer the idea of her being a Kenobi or a Palpatine rather than a Skywalker.

    Maybe she's Jar Jar's kid.
