Running 2017 MLB regular season thread

As big a Cardinal fan as I am, maybe it'll take a season like this to convince Bill DeWitt that he really has to open the purse strings. They need one or two strong pitchers to anchor that lineup. Hitting-wise, I think they'll be okay.

 

Amazing there were only two lefties in that lineup. It's Yankee Stadium fer chrissakes!

Jensen retired in his early 30s — coming off a 28-homer, 112-RBI season — because he was deathly afraid of flying. This was 1960, right when cross-country air travel was becoming a thing in baseball.

He was also an All-America running back at Cal. Finished fourth in the Heisman voting in 1948 and scored a touchdown in the Rose Bowl.

 

Red Sox starter was left-hander Bill Wight. Stengel was one of the first managers who platooned regularly based on righty-lefty matchups.

Through 12 games, Freddie Freeman has 5 homers and 6 RBIs.

Which puts him on pace (sorry, I've always loved the silly early season on pace stats) for a year of 67 HRs and 81 RBIs.

 

RAW has been around for a while and is not going anywhere. It's the best way to gauge player value.
