Of Course There’s Evidence Trump Colluded with Russian Intelligence

"Collusion, in this context anyway, is not a legal term. For legal purposes, it matters if Trump or his people conspired with Russian agents to violate the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act or some other criminal law; it matters if they acted as agents of a foreign power within the meaning of FISA or as agents of a foreign principal within the meaning of FARA.

When people say there is no evidence of collusion, they mean, we suppose, that there is no evidence of covert or illegal collaboration with the criminal activity undertaken in the course of this foreign intelligence operation against the United States.

But that is rather a different matter than acquitting Trump and his campaign of collaborating with the Russians. It ignores, after all, the overt and perfectly legal collaboration they plainly engaged in with what they knew to be an ongoing foreign intelligence operation against their country. We don’t need an investigation to show that this overt activity took place, for the Trumpists were caught in flagrante delicto throughout the entire campaign; indeed, caught is even the wrong word here. The cooperation was an open and public feature of the campaign.

It included open encouragement of the Russians to hack Democratic targets; denial that they had done so; encouragement of Wikileaks, which was publicly known to be effectively a publishing arm of the Russian operation, in publishing the fruits of the hacks; and publicly trumpeting the contents of stolen emails."

There's no evidence that Cory Booker has ever been on a date.

But, Vanity Fair wants to breathlessly tweet out an "exclusive update" about the fictional dating status of Booker and a Hollywood actress.

Give me a break. This is someone's idea of trying to portray him in an appropriate light as he looks to be a presidential candidate in 2020.

As a youth sports parent who has probably run uniforms through the washer and dryer 100,000 times, I am sure you know "rooting for the laundry" can be a very real thing.

So, you're saying that the only evidence is Trump hoping out loud that the Russians would find Hillary's deleted emails, and Roger Stone promoting Wikileaks release of Podesta and DNC emails?

    That's it?

Stuff we all witnessed in real time, and that is likely not criminal?

    That's what we're talking about?

That's all you have after all these months of investigation, and after all the leaks from former administration officials and current intelligence and law enforcement sources?

I think you're referring to the phrase "rooting for someone else to do the laundry" ...

    Oh for fucks sake.

A candidate for President gets up in public on worldwide teevee and publicly encourages -- asks -- a foreign nation to interfere with the election process.

And that's supposed to be all right.

AND ...he's the candidate of the party which has been screeching about the evull nasty commie Russkies nonstop for 80 years.

    Sheesh.

Well that for sure, but if it's 20 minutes before game time and the uniform is still in the dryer, you're definitely rooting for the laundry.

Hey, criticize it all you want -- and it was criticized at the time.

But, if that's all the evidence there is for "collusion with the Russians" then I think we can call it a day on this story.

Uh yeah the only evidence is that the candidate himself blatantly did it on live worldwide teevee.

Its like if O.J. Simpson had beheaded Nicole and Ron live with a Black and Decker chainsaw on the David Letterman show at the Ed Sullivan Theater.

Might have dispelled some of the confusion about the crime.

    This is just sad.

All of this wild conspiracy talk is going to be reduced to this?

That you're now trying to make this into something is quite an admission that there's nothing there.

    Can we move on now?
