That's pretty much my take as well. Dirty jokes in the locker room maybe.

"Can't anyone take a joke anymore?" is as lame an attempt at diverting attention from a stupid and outrageous quote as the Trumpers have offered.

Has it ever been more obvious that liberals hate the concept of free speech?

The recent student demonstrations at Auburn against Spencer’s visit — as well as protests on other campuses against Charles Murray, Milo Yiannopoulos and others — should be understood as an attempt to ensure the conditions of free speech for a greater group of people, rather than censorship. Liberal free-speech advocates rush to point out that the views of these individuals must be heard first to be rejected. But this is not the case. Universities invite speakers not chiefly to present otherwise unavailable discoveries, but to present to the public views they have presented elsewhere. When those views invalidate the humanity of some people, they restrict speech as a public good.

You got us, YF. That's a uniquely lefty issue.

I think your work on this thread is done.

You're right. Nobody should speak out against bigotry.

Trump is still on Twitter complaining about the election results.

We're sorry. You won. Get over it. No one is happy about it. But pick yourself up and face the day. Maybe a nice round of golf would help.

It is becoming increasingly clear that the "conservative" movement in America has as its main purpose making public expressions of bigotry not protected free speech, but socially acceptable everyday speech.
