What was funny about it? Dean has always been about as secular as politicians come. He waged a political battle 35-plus years ago in Burlington, Vt., to stop a real estate development (high rises) on Lake Champlain and instead provide public access by way of a nine-mile bike path. The Episcopal church, of which he was nominally a member, initially impeded his group's ability to acquire a stretch of old railroad tracks. It irked him.

Because protectionism is clearly the way to go here.

Dean sounds like he'd fit in with the Southern Baptists quite nicely. An old joke:

A Southern Baptist, long marooned on a tropical island, was rescued one day. Before he stepped into the rescue craft, its captain asked him about all the crude buildings he'd built.
"Well, this one is where I slept, this one is where I stored my food, and this one is where I worshipped."
    "So it was your church?"
    "Right."
"What about that one over there?"
"That's where I used to go to church, back before it started straying."

Gonna take a bigger rig than that to drag Wisconsin out of the ditch.

But smart move politically to play to his base.

Wait, I thought EOs were a horrible thing. Now Trump is bragging about how many he's issued.

EOs were never the problem. It was the content and the intent.

And, as usual, Trump's previous stance is counter to his current one.

A couple of days old, but I love this from our president:

During a small working lunch at the White House last month, the question of job security in President Trump’s tumultuous White House came up, and one of the attendees wondered whether press secretary Sean Spicer might be the first to go.

The president’s response was swift and unequivocal. “I’m not firing Sean Spicer,” he said, according to someone familiar with the encounter. “That guy gets great ratings. Everyone tunes in.”

Are we ready for more "European police cancel soccer games because of fan violence so it's OK if public universities cancel events because a political speech might hurt someone's feelings" debate?
