How do you count Brady? Started parts of two seasons.

Matt Cassel started zero seasons. He definitely was "any good," whatever that means.

Talking about Newton. I'm as skeptical as anyone about the Trubisky pick, but there is recent precedent for success at QB with limited D-1 experience.

That's a way too broad statement, especially for top draft picks. Eason/Mirer and Manning/Leaf all played right away. Kelly started 16 games and Elway started 11 games in 1983. Bradshaw started games in his first year. Aikman started on his first year.

The first and last time Cam Newton and Mitchell Trabisky will be linked together in their NFL careers.

Probably better to say it's a recent development to expect QBs to be successful right away.

Elway, for instance, was given time to suck as he learned. Nowadays he'd be labeled a bust by November.

I bet Trubisky wins as many Super Bowls.

Their #datapoints didn't intersect in college. One won a BCS national championship in his sole season. The other lost a Sun Bowl in his sole season.

True, though Kelly's case is a bit deceiving. He didn't come straight from college to the NFL. He played in the USFL.

I think of the Class of '83, only Blackledge wasn't a starter at least for some of their rookie years.

That Tim Tebow had a hell of college record.
