Sure, he can admire Jackson. It's that word salad about the Civil War and making up Jackson's thoughts about it that is troubling.

Just the opposite.

I want a uniform standard.

 

Again. I am not saying he was a good president.

I am saying that he was the best person who ever became president -- maybe that should be an automatic disqualifier.

 

I've done this here way too many times before. For now I'll leave the article that sums it up best. It's from a conservative at NR so take it as you want. It's 15 years old, but I don't see what has changed.

I understand what you're saying perfectly. That's what I find so frustrating. His incompetence as a president was his only saving grace. I think the same about our current leader.
