That is certainly very possible. At that point the question becomes how deep were the ties, and who were they tied to? Whether it is financing that leads to the Russian mob or ties to Russian intelligence, those people and his acceptance of them could be very damaging.

There are genuine conspiracies, and Russia has had great success with them over the years. Kim Philby comes to mind.

In Comey's recent testimony he walked a very narrow line in some of his answers. He said outright that he refused to talk about anything to do with the FBI's active Russia investigation. We know that at least one FISA warrant has been issued. There is speculation that at least one and possibly two grand juries have been empaneled and are looking at what went on, one with regard to Russia, the election, and Trump's various Russia connected staff as well as another looking at leaks from the New York FBI office to Giuliani before the election, with the possible addition of material from fired U.S. Attorney Preet Bhrara.

That might indeed be be pure conspiracy theory, baseless, or there might be something to it. We won't know until Comey decides to take his investigation public.

 

Well, I've just about given up hope that we're going to see the pee-pee tape. So I have to ask, is there some expiration date on this investigation? Or are we going to subject the nation to another 42 months of this, just so we can say "The president is UNDER INVESTIGATION!", even when every rock turned up contains nothing concrete underneath?

A few weeks ago, Marine Le Pen met with Putin. Did the French go nuts about it? A MEETING WITH PUTIN! MON DIEU! Doesn't seem like it. Yet we hyperventilate because someone in Trump's camp attended a dinner in 2015 celebrating the 10th anniversary of RT.

 

Gee, I dunno. How long were Whitewater and Benghazi investigated? Those seem to be the gold standards for thorough investigations.
