    lol. ... But, yes. Almost always.

    "Effect" is usually a noun. But sometimes a verb.

    And, to recap, "impact" is a damn good noun: BAMM!

    Especially among the Latin hard-on set, for whom "affect" is also sometimes a noun!

    Oh bother! I give up.

    I'll just be a hack like @outofplace. Impact it is! Noun, verb, who cares? It works great either way.

    (Maybe I'll try to work in influence from time to time. Just a verb, or can I use it as a noun too, without being a hack?)

    OK, I've fallen behind on this thread and am kind of reading it backwards now (does everybody do that? I've always kind of wondered).

    Anyway, I'd never heard that saying by Buffet but I have to say, that is some great descriptive talking/writing.:) I love it.
