I was enjoying some 90s nostalgia and listening to the Gin Blossoms and it dawned on me that two of my favorites from their two big albums were country tunes, Memphis Time and Cajun Song.

So it got me thinking about the best instances of rock acts recording country numbers. Obviously the Stones and Eagles have several. Eric Clapton's cover of Tulsa Time also comes to mind and Summer's End by the Foo Fighters has sort of a Bakersfield swing.

What are some other good ones?

What the hell ever happened to the Gin Blossoms? They had a number of really good songs.

Also, how about Kid Rock singing Sweet Home Alabama all summer long?

Ugh, I hate that song. But that duet with Sheryl Crow is pretty solid.

Didn't the singer/songwriter for the Gin Blossoms drink himself to death?

Granted, you'd need a flow chart to make sense out of the lineup of the Gin Blossoms over the years, but I don't see any mention of that here:

Seems they're making new music. Almost makes me want to drive around this town, make the cops chase us around.
