Bullshit. He was never a hero. Should've been fired in July.

It's a down payment. I don't trust Donald Trump's motives one bit here, but Comey absolutely deserved to get tossed on his ass.

This is ideal. Comey is gone, as he should be. And Trump looks like he's got something to hide.

Good riddance, Comey. The disgrace is gone.

It can be difficult if you lack transportation and/or an employer who will let you take time off from work. Or if your state (Bentley's Alabama for ex) intentionally curbs access to state offices that issue ID

Trump made an enormous error not firing Comey the day after he took office.

This is the move of a political rookie hothead who should not be POTUS.

    So, you're applauding today's action?

He was fired, in part, for the Clinton press conference.

    I don't really disagree.

    The firing doesn't look good.

FOX is reporting that the timing has to due with Rod Rosenstein getting confirmed as Deputy Attorney General, and having a chance to review Comey's handling of the case. (Sessions had recused himself.)

A little hard to believe. I think Comey is an honorable guy, though he may have made some blunders.

Comey had a chance to keep his job, but declined to join the "Kiss Donald Trump's Ass Club."

At the center of Rosenstein's rationale for recommending Comey's firing was Comey's handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server, namely his decision to recommend no charges be filed and the news conference he held to explain his reasoning.

Rosenstein accused Comey of attempting to "usurp the attorney general's authority" by publicly announcing why he felt the case should be closed without prosecution.

"Compounding the error, the director ignored another longstanding principle: We do not hold press conferences to release derogatory information about the subject of a declined criminal investigation," Rosenstein argued in his memo.

"We should reject the departure and return to the traditions (of the bureau)," Rosenstein said. "The way the director handled the conclusion of the email investigation was wrong. As a result, the FBI is unlikely to regain public and congressional trust until it has a director who understands the gravity of the mistakes and pledges never to repeat them."
