If he's honorable, he's honorable in the kind of way that you'd very much rather he wasn't.

I still can't believe Trump didn't fire him day one. It speaks to Trump's rank foolishness. If Trump were half as wise of a manager as he thinks he is, he would have dumped Comey immediately, knowing that Comey did what he did before the election to protect the, uh, whatever of the FBI, and he'd do so again, whenever the time came up.

 

Officials released a Tuesday memo from the Deputy Attorney General, Rod Rosenstein, laying out the rationale behind Comey’s dismissal.

“The FBI’s reputation and credibility have suffered substantial damage, and it has affected the entire Department of Justice,’’ Rosenstein wrote. “I cannot defend the director’s handling of the conclusion of the investigation of Secretary Clinton’s emails, and I do not understand his refusal to accept the nearly universal judgment that he was mistaken. Almost everyone agrees that the director made serious mistakes; it is one of the few issues that unites people of diverse perspectives.’’

Aside from the Department of Energy mention, why is this in the politics shitshow thread?

 

There isn't any question the press conference was a total disaster, as was the reopening of the case.

It never should have been an investigation in the first place.

It was an utterly remarkable waste of fucking time, and it ensnared a presidential candidate - and might just ensnare a president. Sad!

 

Obama should've canned Comey at sunrise the day after the election. Nobody would have batted an eye.

Not only are they not going to "lock her up," they've fired the guy who was looking into doing just that.
