CNN learned of the subpoenas hours before President Donald Trump fired FBI director James Comey.

 

Zero chance Congressional Republicans will call for any legitimate investigation or action that might threaten their guy Trump. There is no sign of it. During all public hearings, all GOP members have been asking exclusively about "unmasking" and nothing about what POTUS may have done to undermine national security. They don't care.

And this amazes me because it's not like the Fuhrer's dismissal will make Hillary Clinton the president. It would elevate Mike Pence, who, unlike Trump, is a lifelong conservative who shares the party's theocratic platform from one side to the other. Why wouldn't Republicans want to look like they're doing the patriotic thing when that action will elevate their perfect guy? With Pence, you get all the theocracy, climate denial and everything else you have with Trump (so far) minus the unpredictability and embarrassment factor. And you do it well in advance of the midterms. You'll still get to make your SCOTUS picks. Seriously, Trumpists, why wouldn't they want to do this? Is it just that they're terrified of being primaried from the (even more obscene) right?
