If Trump is still polling under 40 percent in 2020, there will be about a dozen Democrats running. Given that very few people had heard of Trump's predecessor three years before said predecessor got elected, assessing a field three years before an election seems unwise.

 

It's still two indistinguishable Washington insiders vs. the Famous Guy from Teevee Who Makes Hillary Clinton Mad.

 

Everyone knew exactly who his predecessor was after the 2004 DNC.

Since we are experiencing the nightmare scenario of an unbalanced game-show host as President, here's how it denigrates into Trump with a 37% support and keep winning. The Democrats double down and support a solid liberal who will probably be a non-white male. We become, at a National Presidential Level, a 3 party country. Someone tries to be a centrist (closer to conservative democrat) and Booker or similar NorthEast liberal running. No one needs a majority of the vote in a State to win the State's electors. Trump will be a plurality president with a Conservative House of Representatives. The liberal wing thinks, rightly so, that Trump is a failure. They will be over confident and nominate a Hillary clone. and we will be a 2nd World country with Russia and China dominating global trade and punishing the US for 60 years of arrogance.

 

I think he's a failure, too, but I take some solace in the fact that he's a failure for the reasons I feared he would be from the onset of Trump Mania. Not because he's going to round up all the minorities. Not because he's going to build a wall. Not because he's going to ban Muslims.

Because he doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.
