Dude, I'm just trying to make the lonely day go by a little bit faster by maintaining a side conversation or two slightly more interesting than the fine print of an insurance contract.

Here's how Kershaw lost his shutout in top-9.

I watched all 13 innings of STL-LA last night, and for a 2-1 final it was one of the most compelling games I've watched in quite a while. Drama on every pitch because neither starter had any margin for error, and except for the one HR pitch, Lynn matched Kershaw all night long.

I don't know the actual numbers, but it seems St. Louis has better success than Kershaw than any other team.

It's true. He has a 2.99 career ERA against them in 105 1/3 career innings.

Some of his performances against N.L. teams is downright comical.

1.29 ERA in 77 IP against the Mets.

1.62 ERA in 38 starts against the Giants.

Cardinals have knocked him around in the playoffs too, though that's largely attributable to Mattingly's insistence on getting 150 pitches out of him.

Jon Lester 2016 ERA and wins by month:

    1.83/2
    3.29/3
    1.41/4
    7.36/2
    1.71/3
    1.48/5

More wins and better ERA the final two months of the season than the first two months of the season when he was toast of the town.
