What a horrible thing for someone who peddles hate every minute of every day to have to suffer through.

?? Not at all. I'm just amazed how calm he remained.

He doesn't even sound that mad. To his credit. He calmly objects to what was done to him. States what happened. Asks for the names of the witnesses, and for the police to be called.

On the part where the Richard Spencer assault is a relevant equivalency that has some place in the discussion of a candidate for the house of representatives assaulting a reporter.

Wonder how the narrative would change among the right if the reporter had kicked that guy's ass.

They'd say the candidate was a RINO - because no Real American could get his ass kicked by a pansy-ass LIBRUHL journalist.

Is it sad that I think that would cost him more votes than what actually happened will?

It will be impossible to determine how this crime affected voters. Oh, there will be lots of anecdata -- going both ways, but actual data will be nonexistent. Even if Quist wins, there's no way of telling if that wouldn't have happened anyway.

Whataboutism wins again. Why discuss someone who is about to be elected to Congress violently assaulting a reporter because he can't control his temper, when we could be discussing whether some random person should have punched some minor internet alt-right celebrity months ago?
