North Carolina has changed plates, but it has been more than 25 years since the last wholesale change.

Some specialized plates have been unveiled. And, of course, NASCAR plates ...

Many Springsteen fans I know have vanity plates of Springsteen songs with BRN2RN and THNDRRD (and variations of those) being the most popular.
I could try putting together a lengthier list if people are interested.

Most unintentionally funny one I saw read something like TKME2D. If it wasn't for some Disney decorations on the car, I never would have gotten the real meaning

The fact that it's from N.H. (Live Free or Die) is what makes it.

I love that fact that the motto on Washington D.C. license plates is "Taxation Without Representation."

This story came from the Baltimore Sun?? Sun sports columnist Pete Schmuck, who grew up in Southern California, had his request for the license plate SCHMUCK censored by the state. He made an issue out of it and the ruling was eventually overturned. I believe he has a photo of him with his SCHMUCK license plate on his Facebook page.
