Must-visit awful U.S. cities

Headed to Santa Fe in a couple of weeks. Hope it's not on the list.

 

Same with the Chicago area, and it's not limited to the dangerous neighborhoods in the city. Tops on the "avoid" list are Harvey (south suburb) and Cicero (west suburb).

 

Lawton, OK, which you should only see so that you can go to the Wichita Mountains, which are awesome and have some great history. Plus you can get a Meers Burger, one of the best burgers you'll ever have.

It's a 2-way tie between Liberal, KS and Guymon, OK.
I would probably give Liberal the edge of being the most shittiest.
If you've ever been there, you know.
The best thing about Guymon is there is a Mister Burger. Quite possibly the best triple cheeseburger with jalapenos you'll ever eat.
The best thing about Liberal, KS is seeing it in your rearview mirror.
Oh, and you don't want to visit either of these retched cities.

San Bernardino is technically in the Southern third of the state, but that is the Inland Empire rather than SoCal in common parlance.
In general, there's nothing 'must-see' about the Inland Empire.

 

Did you only dine at McDonald's? The quality of the restaurants in that town make it an awesome place to visit.

 

I would think most of our major cities have something worth visiting. Same goes for towns with major universities. I've never been to Pullman/Moscow, but it can't be that bad, can it? I know Stillwater seems crappy compared to Chapel Hill, but they both are better than your typical town that size.

 

Been to Moscow. Not a bad town. Bet winter sucks, though.

I cannot understand how anyone could not like SF.

 

I've driven US 54 from Kansas to New Mexico several times.

I actually like driving it.

That's the route we're taking in a couple of weeks. Were actually thinking of stopping in Liberal to end the first leg. Guess we'll keep driving.
