If I recall correctly, Article VIII of the Constituoon explicitly gives tapintoamerica veto power regarding candidate qualifications.

Indeed. @tapintoamerica is one of those "tolerance" types who loves them some creedal slander.

Is it really our stance that questioning the vice president's religious views is out of bounds?

When you hide behind such things, you show your need for board approval. Best of luck finding the validation you need.

No, not out of bounds. Doing such, however, generally reveals more about the questioner than the subject of the question. Especially when the questioning is fashioned in a rather ... suspect ... manner.

BTW, adding "hate crime enhancements on top of whatever sentence he receives for the assault" is really absurd. The guy beat a woman unconscious. Unless it was in self defense (which it was not), who cares what the motive was? Hate crime laws by and large conflict with the First Amendment.

So you really would not be bothered by a world leader that held this belief? Would there be any religious belief that, in your mind , would disqualify a candidate?

Not so much questioning his religious views except as, in effect, they become anti-religious views.

Right. It's always the people pointing out the potential problems who are the real problem.

I doubt that would matter if that person advocated the right political positions.
