A few years ago we headed west for a conference and decided to make it a road trip with a camping stop at the Grand Canyon. We stayed in an in-the-park campground that was easily a mile from the nearest canyon edge ... yet for weeks I had nightmares (literally) about stumbling out of the tent and down into the abyss.

Ohhhh, the stories I could tell about near-death experiences at the Grand Canyon...

I have never been to the Grand Canyon. I intend to go once our kids are older.

And when I go, I will eat beans out of a flashlight.

We did a six day river rafting tour through the Grand Canyon. Amazing trip.

Guides cooked a hot breakfast and dinner. Sandwiches for lunch. And usually an optional hike in the afternoon.

You pitched your own tent, so it wasn't "glamping", but it was pretty sweet.

The company we went with says they've retired, and this company has taken over:

    Good. Good good good.

I started reading this thread early Sunday AM, saw that it started Thursday AM, and was seven pages long so far. I said to myself, please Lord, let one of us make a reference to outdoor fucking. Please.

Took until Page 5, and not very graphic, but swingline renewed my faith in SJ.

The point is, without campers, we wouldn't have been graced with the finest video in the history of American travel.

We need to get the Winnebago Man signed up here.

At 5:38 it becomes the Politics thread.
