I have heard of a grand total of zero songs on Billboard's current Hot 100

Current Billboard Hot 100 > anything by those fucking shit-ass Eagles / @CD Boogie

Why are there like five artists collaborating on every song?

Nope. I could barely tolerate the countdown of the Top 40 Billboard hits from 1989 last week on Sirius' 80s on 8.

Damn, son, were you a roadie for Don Henley or something? The Eagles aren't my flavor, that's all. Unfortunately I have heard a lot of these Top 100 songs. I have a 9-year-old daughter, so pop music is often what we listen to, though I have been trying to indoctrinate her more to my tastes in music.

I think I've only heard of two or three because my sister listens to current music and I rode in her car in the last couple of weeks.

My actual thought after glancing at the list was "Shakira is still making music?"

I feel like this has been going on for the last 25 years, especially in rap music.

Yeah, but I feel like I look at the 1985 charts, when I was the age my son is now, and I remember the songs that were No. 1 and I'm sure my parents do, too. They were ubiquitous:

    "Like a Virgin" - Madonna
"I Want to Know What Love Is" - Foreigner
    "Careless Whisper" - Wham!
"Can't Fight This Feeling" - REO Speedwagon
"One More Night" - Phil Collins
"We Are the World" - USA for Africa
    "Crazy for You" - Madonna
"Don't You (Forget About Me)" - Simple Minds
"Everything She Wants" - Wham! (I don't know that one)
"Everybody Wants to Rule the World" - Tears for Fears
    "Heaven" - Bryan Adams
    "Sussudio" - Phil Collins
"A View to Kill" - Duran Duran (I don't know that one)
"Everytime You Go Away" - Paul Young
    "Shout" - Tears for Fears
"The Power of Love" - Huey Lewis
"St. Elmo's Fire" - John Parr (I listened to it this morning!)
"Money for Nothing" - Dire Straits
"Oh Sheila" - Read for the World (I don't know that one)
    "Take on Me" - A-Ha
"Saving All My Love for You" - Whitney Houston
    "Part-Time Lover" - Stevie Wonder
"Miami Vice Theme" - Jan Hammer
"We Built This City" - Starship
"Separate Lives (Theme From White Nights)" - Phil Collins/Marilyn Martin (I don't know this one, but I have no doubt it is awesome)
    "Broken Wings" - Mr. Mister
"Say You, Say Me (Title Song from White Nights)" - Lionel Richie (I don't know what "White Nights" is, but apparently it was big in late 1985)

I kept fairly current until the late 90s, then dropped off.
    Now? Nuthin.

This music these kids listen to nowadays...

@Songbird is my guy, but he frequently loves some of the most milquetoast bands around and is surprised that others don't grasp the awesomeness. He was evangelizing for Bush a few days ago. Glad the target is off me now. :)

Theme song to James Bond movie.

BTW, guessing Jerry Seinfeld can't name many either.
