I have heard of a grand total of zero songs on Billboard's current Hot 100

Dick, purely as a matter of knowing the culture, you should be familiar with Bruno Mars. Maybe not That's What I Like, although that is very popular, but Uptown Funk was a cultural phenomenon.

    Nope, not a single song.

Side note: Darius Rucker? In 2017? Seriously?

Bruno Mars and Coldplay have done the super bowl halftime.

I'm surprised by the number of country acts on the Hot 100 more than anything else — Thomas Rhett, Blake Shelton, Dierks Bentley, etc. along with the aforementioned FGL. It's like the Urban Cowboy days all over again.

Nashville country these days is just pop music with a banjo underneath it and a twangy baritone voice. I hear it nonstop at work.

I know a couple of those ... the ones by Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles. I've probably heard a couple others on my kids' playlists, when they plug their gadget into my wife's car stereo.

Did I see a Linkin Park song on that list?

He's resurrected his career nicely as a country act.

I recognized the titles of about six songs of the 100. Might recognize a few more if I heard them. And I could at least recognize the genres of most of them, even if I wouldn't recognize them if they walked in my front door right now.

By Billy Ocean and Teena Marie, respectively.

There was also "Easy Lover" (Philip Bailey and Phil Collins), "Penny Lover" (Lionel Richie) and "Part-Time Lover" (Stevie Wonder) in the year-end chart.
