I have heard of a grand total of zero songs on Billboard's current Hot 100

    Man, that Phil Collins!

His singing/drumming has chunks of Don Henley in it.

So did the guy from Staind, weirdly enough.

I thought Rucker had overstayed his relevance 20 years ago.

Ready for the World? Loved that band!
    Billy Ocean? Tremendous entertainer!

Throw in the Ohio Players, and I'm good for the night.

From the 1985 list, the only one I don't know is the Sheila one, and I bet I'd recognize it if I heard it. White nights was the Gregory Hines/Baryshnikov movie about dance. Never saw it but it was pretty big.

Do any of those guys play the banjo or have a banjo player in their band?

I'm at that age where I don't listen to "hit music" until it has made its way into a TV ad, a sports stadium or a TV show.

Heard of about half the artists, none of the songs.

I listened to a few of the songs on the Billboard rock chart last night. I don't understand how any of them constitute "rock." Then I listened to the White Stripes' cover of "Jolene" to purify myself. I am trying to come to terms with a world in which the Imagine Dragons sell out stadiums and Jack White releasing the hounds of hell is considered passé dad rock.

The Blackpool video of "Jolene" is as good as it gets.

In a really weird coincidence, the radio show I listen to came back from a break this morning playing "Despacito," making that the first of the top 100 songs I've heard.

    It's fucking terrible.
