Young girl with short hair plays in youth soccer tournament. Hours before the final, she's banned because she's told she looks like a boy. Father shows documents stating that's not the case, but organizers stand their ground.

Gotta be more to this. I wonder if one of the organizers had a kid on the other team in the finals.

This story got to me. I was frequently mistaken for a boy when I was young and it really bugged me.

I was too, including when I got lost in a store and the manager announced he'd found "a little boy in red pants and a yellow jacket." When my frantic mom found me, she asked why I didn't tell my name or that I'm a girl. I apparently replied, "He didn't ask."

Mili was listed as male on the roster, which was a violation of the league rules. All this hoopla might be because of a typo. Also, aggregation and a clickbait headline quoting an 8-year-old's opinion.

Here's the PDF statement from Nebraska State Soccer, denying all involvement.
