True. But I also found it interesting how Trump couldn't see how an announcement re: an investigation of him might play (and what such an announcement might lead to down the road). He doesn't strike me as being dishonest so much as ... naive (?) ... there.

This is the most depressing thing I've read in ... I don't know when.

The mystery of the 2016 election was its normalcy

Read the whole thing when you have several minutes to spare. Basically, it doesn't matter how awful a candidate is, party loyalty will override everything. And it is just as true for Democrats as Republicans. There are a lot more President Camachos in our future.

    We're fucked.

I also thought the two private conversations with Obama vs. nine with Trump in a much shorter time was interesting.

He has a kindergartener's view of the president as a god-king who must be unfailingly obeyed and can make anything happen he wants to by snapping his fingers and saying so.

After decades in the NYC housing business and in the nightlife, it's as if Trump operates like a mobster with one-on-one discussions and loyalty requests.

OTOH, it cuts thru the clutter: obey or else.

Thought your self-imposed two -month hiatus led to enlightenment and joy. Just something else I was dumb about.

Maybe during your next exile you can try one of those meditation/yoga retreats. Could help in your quest to be a better person.

    PS You're dumb.

But it's not a very fast boat.
