A similar question is "Did the Russians really put hacked fake news out that made the Qatar crisis happen?" If they did, the potential for other, similar mischief is very frightening. The U.S., theoretically a first world, somewhat tech savvy country, has been tied in knots by their election tampering. Spreading the right rumors in some other countries could really light fires.

Burr asked it today in his opening series of questions.

When's the last time anyone saw Michael Flynn in public? Is he in some hotel suite in suburban Va. or Md. with his attorneys, some FBI agents, and a video recorder? Probably not. But he's been fingered under oath as the target of an FBI investigation and his lawyers haven't popped up to say anything? That indicates the shit is deep and rising.

Had Obama fired Comey for attempting to influence the election, and announced publicly and in detail the reason, emphasized that after lengthy and intensive investigation no
Basis had emerged to support any criminal charges against Hillary Clinton, and even for formality's sake directed Lynch to bring a Hatch Act prosecution:

    1. He would have been remembered as an angry, arrogant black man who took unprecedented legal steps to protect the legacy of his administration by facilitating the election of a successor favorable to his policies.

    2. All barrels of the right wing screech machine would have attacked him for being an arrogant uppity mooslim neegro.

    3. HRC would have narrowly won the election (by a larger margin than she did in real life, large enough to swing the electoral vote).

    4. Comey would have been found guilty of the Hatch violation, which carries no criminal penalty. As his sentence, he would have been ordered to deliver a public statement on the responsibility of FBI personnel not to influence political campaigns.

    5. Comey would have had no private meetings of any type with Donald Trump, who would have spent the last five months masturbating at Mar-A-Lago.

Instead we have a drooling baboon in the White House rubbing the nuclear football against his sweaty nutsack.

Would it have been a Hatch Act prosecution, or a Hatch Act matter?
