What do your children call adults?

What's respectful about insisting other grown men call you Mr?

That's another reason for Auntie. I'm pretty sure all the kids who refer to me that way have actual blood aunts (or uncles, or both). I never wanted to distract from that relationship, or insert myself into someone else's family.

It creates a layer of separation and respect in case anyone is particularly traditional.

I'm talking about the people calling him Mr.

Whether he insists on it or not, he's the boss and signs your checks. Showing some basic respect to his face is the least you could do. Unless he insists otherwise.

    Disagree. It's weird.

Guess it depends on the environment.

As much as I thought Craig Dubow was a boob, I'd still call him Mr. Dubow if I ever met him.

    Dude or Bro, most often.

No, it was a bunch of employees under directive to kiss his insecure ass.

    Respect is something that's earned.

I respect everyone until they prove themselves unworthy of it. Or if they sign my paychecks.

I generally lead with "sir" or "miss" when I speak to people I don't know. I've found over the years that a lot of women don't like being called m'aam.

Would you expect senior executives, who interacted with Dubow on a daily basis to call him Mr. Dubow?

For me, I was just coming from a company where the CEO and the president insisted everyone refer to them by their first names. Made a lot more sense to me.

Don't know if I'd expect it, but I wouldn't bat an eye. Especially if lower-level employees were around.

When the Falcons were featured on "Hard Knocks" a few years ago, Mike Tice played a good sycophant by calling the owner "Mr. Blank."
