I have heard of a grand total of zero songs on Billboard's current Hot 100

    [Vigorously whacking off gesture.]

    Write a sincere song, jackass.

Not only have I never heard any of those songs, I've never heard of at least 75 of those "artists."

Now mow my lawn, you little whippersnappers!

I was at a wedding this weekend - the "kids" - all in their 20s - didn't get off the dance floor for 2 plus hours. They didn't seemed to be alarmed or upset at the lack of Satisfaction, Stairway to Heaven, or hits from the 1985 Hot 100 list coming from the dj.

Why would anyone expect them to be? I'm not sure what argument your post is attempting to either refute or support.

Thanks to Poin, this thread has been very misunderstood. We're not all sitting around listening to "Damn the Torpedoes" every night, and this is not a lament that these whipper snaps don't appreciate the Ramones or Yes.

My point was that it seems odd that we live in a world where a music fan can move about without a single top 100 current hit entering his ear space, ever.

We're 18 pages and a week in. Be thankful it took this long to take a sideways turn. The over/under is usually about three pages.

The other side of the coin is that I know so much music I would never have been exposed to in the 'only radio' days. I can't imagine my life without The Avett Brothers as the soundtrack and I only discovered them because we got satellite radio and stumbled on The Spectrum.
