    Finally some decent analysis.

Mayweather has recorded exactly two knockouts since 2006 and hasn't fought in two years. McGregor has one-punch power (witness Aldo) and has never been KOd. (His three defeats in MMA have all come from chokes.) He also started his career as a boxer, so it's not like he's a complete novice.

Here are this fight's possible results from most likely to least likely:

    Mayweather, unanimous decision
    Mayweather, majority decision
    McGregor, KO/TKO
    Mayweather, KO/TKO
    McGregor, majority decision
    McGregor, unanimous decision

Add "Fight canceled due to mysterious training injury" in there and you've got all the bases covered.

Mayweather is way smarter and a better businessman than James Toney. But guess at that point in Toney's career he took the paycheck.

I think you have two guys who are hugely motivated by money. They're fighting with broken hands if they have to.

Floyd will embarrass him to the trained eye but he likely won't knock him out. Will that be considered a success for Conor to those expecting a quick KO?

I think it's far more likely Mayweather knocks him out. There is no chance McGregor outboxes Mayweather for a single round let alone long enough to even get a judge to think about getting to a majority decision.

Possible outcomes, in order of likeliness:
    Mayweather, KO/TKO
    Mayweather, unanimous decision
    McGregor, KO/TKO

Outcomes that have no chance of occurring:
    Mayweather, majority decision
    McGregor, majority decision
    McGregor, unanimous decision

Provide one good reason that the best defensive boxer ever would open himself to take a lucky punch?

He may knock him out early but it won't be because he of all of sudden becomes a maniac.

Before we get too confident of an easy Mayweather win, I might again remind folks that Mayweather is 40-years-old, hasn't fought anyone in two years, and hasn't fought anyone genuinely formidable who wasn't a washed up shell of his former self (ie. 2015 Pacquiao) in a lot longer than that.

You know, 40 is really pushing it for a boxer who relies so heavily on quickness, elusiveness and reflexes as Mayweather does. McGregor may be the beneficiary of most fortunate timing here--the first guy to get Mayweather after Father Time finally zapped all his magic away.

McGregor's clearly the underdog here, if it's straight boxing. Is that the plan, or some sort of hybrid like the Ali-Inoki match mentioned uptopic?
